Factory ECU calibration

Working inside the manufacturer's own structures — the torque model, the air model, the protection strategies — using the factory documentation and DAMOS data rather than guessing at addresses. The same work that produced the software on this site.

Big turbo, custom builds

Cars that no off-the-shelf file fits. Oversized turbochargers, changed injectors and MAF housings, cams, manifolds, methanol, E85. If the hardware has moved far enough that the stock air model no longer describes the engine, that is the interesting part of the job.

Datalogs, not guesswork

Every revision comes from what the car actually did on the last one. Load, timing, knock retard, lambda, boost error and fuel trims, read from your logs. If I change something I can tell you which channel told me to.

How it
works

You need a laptop, a J2534 cable and somewhere safe to drive. Everything else is email.

  1. Tell me the car ECU part number, what the engine is running now, what you want from it, and where it is being driven. If something is unfinished or borderline, say so — it changes what I calibrate for.
  2. Read the ECU You get the standalone flash and log software. Read your current file over OBD and send it. I work from your actual ECU contents, not a file that ought to match.
  3. First revision I build a conservative file and send it back with a list of what to log. You flash it and drive — part throttle first, then pulls once it looks clean.
  4. Log, send, repeat Send the logs, I read them and send the next revision. Usually a handful of rounds. Each one comes with a short note on what changed and what I want to see next.
  5. Finished file When it is done you keep the final file and the software. Nothing is locked to me, and you are not paying again to get a copy of your own tune.

A J2534 cable

Any J2534 PassThru device that does K-line. A Tactrix OpenPort 2.0 is the safe choice; cheaper clones vary, and a cable that cannot hold a stable K-line will cost you more time than it saved. This is the one thing you must have.

Anything that runs Windows 10 or 11 and has a USB port. The software is a single executable — nothing to install, no runtime, no account.

Somewhere to drive

Logs come from the car under load, so you need road or track where full-throttle pulls are safe and legal. No dyno needed, though if you have access to one it shortens the process.

How it works

What to put in the first email

ECU part number (the 06A906032… or 8E0909518… sticker), the engine and gearbox, and a list of what has been changed — turbo, injectors, MAF housing, intercooler, exhaust, cams, fuel. Say what fuel you run and whether that ever changes.

Then what you want: daily drivability, a track car, a specific power figure, or just to stop it running badly after a hardware change. And anything you already know is wrong with it — a misfire, a boost leak, a sensor you do not trust. I would rather hear about it now than find it in a log.
